We have completed our 2013 Spring Edition of Wyandotte Dollars & Sense Booklets. The post offices at Wyandotte and Grosse Ile received booklets on Friday March 8th and they began delivering on Saturday March 9th. Our select routes in Trenton and Riverview will begin receiving booklets on Tuesday March 12th from their local post offices.

This edition features Restaurant Week in Wyandotte! It begins March 25th and ends March 30th. There are 24 restaurants throughout the city that will feature exclusive specials to everyone! Be sure to check out the full page ad in Dollars & Sense or go to the Wyandotte Business Association Event Page on Facebook to get all the details and participant lists.

Also featured in the 2013 Spring Edition - Third Friday Events sponsored by the Wyandotte Business Association. Third Friday March 15th - Browse, Brews and a Bit of the Blarney. Other upcoming events in Wyandotte are April 19th - Girls Night Out and May 4th Cinco de Mayo in Downtown Wyandotte. February 15th was the Wyandotte Business Association's Cool Blue Ice Festival. The event took place throughout Downtown Wyandotte and featured 20 Ice Sculptures sponsored by local businesses. The weather was great and the festivities were fun. This year MediaGrump was proud to display their mascot as one of the ice sculptures. It was so much fun to see our little guy carved out of ice..he was the hit of the show!

These ads were published in an community focused coupon booklet that was mailed out to the entire city of Wyandotte, Grosse Ile, and parts of Trenton in Michigan.

The focus on the booklet was the upcoming "Paint the Town Pink" event set in October 2012. We were honored to participate in such a community event, to be involved with the local small businesses, and to assist those in our community.

Fire spreads in downtown Wyandotte



Dan & I are so devastated over the Downtown Wyandotte fire! We are deeply saddened at the loss of Lions, Tigers & Beers (LTB's). We have had many great memories here, meetings with customers, eating with friends. We pray for the firefighters involved. Dan & I watched from inside Total Health Foods with Katie & Janette, the owners of Total Health Foods. Total Health Foods was directly across from the blazing fire. We saw many firefighters from multiple cities teaming up together to keep it from spreading. It deeply touched my heart to see the cities of Trenton, Allen Park, Ecorse, Brownstown, Rockwood, Southgate, Detroit, Lincoln Park and Wyandotte cooperating to save our downtown. I have often thought as downtown Wyandotte as Downriver's Downtown. Witnessing all of the Downriver communities banding together to fight this fire was truly moving.

Dan & I are concerned for the small business owners that will be affected by this tragedy. We pray for a speedy recovery for them as well as the City of Wyandotte.

Downriver's Downtown Wyandotte has a new and great addition, Sushi Bar and Japanese Cuisine has opened! This is an awesome addition to the community. Stacy and I were able to get in last Friday along with Mikelle Vargas from Traffic Jam Boutique. We had a good time, the sushi was reasonably priced and extremely delicious. We recommend trying one of the special rolls called Super Star! Yummy!


The owner has brought in some great chef's from California and Chicago. If you like Sushi, you'll love this place.

Stacy Cataldo and I had a nice time at this years Black Tie at Yack Arena in Wyandotte. The event was put on by Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber. We met several of our friends and clients and we also met several new friends. It was a 3 day event that was highlighted Thursday May 3rd for the annual event. Thanks to Jim's Tuxedo for the great looking tux! Thank you to Traffic Jam Boutique in Downtown Wyandotte for inviting us to share your booth space.

Dan and I were asked by the Wyandotte Patch to share one of our favorite recipes. Dan selected to make Chinese Dumpling. This is by far one of my favorite dishes he makes for us. It is delicious! Dan was visiting one of our clients before the Patch came over for the story. David Reno from Winedotte Wines recommended the white wine to serve with the Chinese Dumplings. Oh was he right! The white wine he choose brought out the flavor of the dumplings. It was so yummy!

Downtown was hopping tonight and still is with Mayor Peterson's anual BBQ Grill Cook Off. mmmm did it all smell good. Familes were out. Friends were hanging around. It was alive and happy. The city continues to do so well with keeping the downtown active.

But why oh why did the municipal power plant choose to burn tires tonight? It could've stuck with the coal just for this night. Stacy and I live a block or two awya from the power plant. Somedays the smell is unbearable. Why would they stink out the town on an exciting night with visitors from other cities?

Will Wyandotte be burning tires during the Street Art Fair? God I would hope not.
